Going to play casino poker for the first time (just turned 18). Probably playing .50-1 and maybe some 1-2. I’m a decent enough player but don’t really know what to expect. Any advice?

I'm an experienced, 100% online player but was going to go to the casino to play poker this weekend for the first time in 5+ years. I've only played casino poker 10-15 times in my life between 2005-2013. What should I bring for a planned 10+ hour session?

I was going to grab a little sling bag but what are some ideas to pack. I'm going to bring a tablet but I am terribly ignorant of what casinos allow these days. Last time I played I don't even think they allowed cell phones out at the table but I hear times have changed. Do they have free wifi? Can you bring in a water bottle and snacks? I heard you can use tablets at the table for surfing but I suppose you have to put it away if you are in a hand? Any other tips for someone in my situation.
Also I am so used to having Poker Tracker 4, what tips do you have for tracking people, or any other tells or anything else you can think to remind or tell me.
I am in the Vancouver region. Stakes will be 1/3 NL. either 300-400 max buy depending where I go.
EDIT: Thanks for the help. I'm going to go bare bones. Just a fully charged phone, maybe a granola in my pocket, 1k cash and plan on staying 5-6 hours unless I'm up over 2 buyins and the table is crazy then I might consider staying but I'm hoping to book a win the first time to make it a positive experience so I might walk after 5 hours if I'm up a couple hundred. If I lose more than 700 i might also walk, definitely if I lose the thousand because I don't want to get too destroyed or I might not want to come back for while. Going to try and stay vigilant and watch very closely, think about ways to beat each player and what ranges they play without obsessing over numbers.

Where is the best place to play casino poker for a living?

Las Vegas, ldo. But other than there? I lived in Biloxi and did very well there. I moved to a place with no casinos to work a square job. Now I'm ready to find someplace to get back on the felt. What are your opinions?
Vegas and Biloxi are both cheap. I have a network in Biloxi. But I'm also looking at Ashville, which is close to Cherokee.

My first time playing casino poker

Having seen other's post about they're first times playing poker or live cash games I decided to post my own. It was only about 5 hours ago that I bought into my first ever live cash game, in my first ever casino.
Set the scene at Mohegan Sun in CT. I walked in with 2 friends, one who'd been before and another who, like me, had never set foot in a casino. Finding myself overcome with noise and lights I followed my friends to the casino of wind, where the most table games and poker room was. We walked around watching some craps and roulette, it didn't take long for me to be confused and afraid for my small bankroll of $200. After a few minutes I decided to go to the one place I thought I could handle, the one place I was sure I'd understand what was happening, the poker room.
I wandered in by myself and watched a few tables. I found the 1/2 tables and started to scope out the competition. After seeing several limp pots and checks to the river my nerves were eased and I put my name on the waiting list. A few minutes later, with $150 in chips in my hands I was sat at the very table I watched before. It didn't take long to make some moves. Only about 3 hands in I found myself with QJ off in early position. I raised to $8 and got a few calls, I quickly. The flop came K Q 7. I fired out $15 and got one caller. The turn brought a blank and I checked, not sure of what my next move was going to be. He checked back and we saw the river, another lady. With my set I lead out for $25 and he threw his hand to the muck almost before the chips hit the table. Only a few hands into my session and I was already up about $60. With nothing but confidence I continued to play waiting for my next strong spot.
I didn't have to wait long, when the button reached me I looked down at AA. I raised to $8, I seemed to be the only one raising pre-flop, and all the limpers called. With about $24 in the pot the flop brought a 10 7 and 4 to the board. It checked around and I fired another bet, $15 I believe, I got one caller. The turn brought a second 7 and a flush draw to the board. The player I was heads up with was big into chasing flushes and straights and fired out a bet, I just called. The river came with a 7 and he threw in $75. It didn't take me long to call and he immediately declared "I have the 7" while triumphantly flipping up his cards. With complete surprise I said "Really? You do?" as I looked down at his 5 8 off-suit. I showed my AA and he didn't realize what he did until I was pulling in the pot. He apologized profusely but I didn't care, in just 2 hands I had a big profit and felt like I had the table read.
As the hands went by I kept winning pots. In my own words "I had the table crushed". I felt invincible, I knew when to bluff and I knew when to throw it away. In my short session I hadn't lost a showdown and hadn't lost more than $15 in a single hand. It was all profit and all fun. Until I played QJ again...
I was in relatively late position and the pot had been raised to $8. QJ was good enough to call, especially since I knew the guys behind me would probably be calling also. All said and done the flop came with 6 people trying to hit. A K blank. The original raiser led out for $15. Riding on profits I decided to call and see the turn. If I missed the 10 I knew I could get away, but if it hit there was some massive payoff potential. After a few more called the turn brought the 10. The villain put $50 into the pot and I asked what he was playing behind it. There's something great about asking that question, something you can't get online. You could almost see the fear in his eyes as he lifted away from the table to show his chips, he refused to talk but I could get the count. It was somewhere over $100. Without much thought I announced my raise and put $150 on the table. Looking back it amazes me that in one bet I played my initial buy-in. He said "wow, JQ... that'd be something... that would suck" as he moved all-in. A snap call later he showed KK, giving him a set of kings, when unsurprisingly I showed the JQ, the nut straight. With only 10 outs I felt confident that I would be up $500+ after the river, until I saw it. It was the slowest river I had ever seen, the last king in the deck flying threw the air down to the table. I went silent as the player to my right said "oh that might get the high hand jackpot!". He looked it up to see that the high hand was currently quad aces. I made a joke along the lines of "Oh come on, if you're going to beat me like that you need to at least win the high hand!". THe villain refused to even acknowledge the joke.
I played stunned for another round, still with a small profit I thought I could come back. I won a few small pots but then came my last hand of the night. K10 suited in middle position. The player UTG raised to $8 and for some reason I called. On a table where no one was raising pre-flop I called a UTG raise, with K10. After loosing the nut straight I had been playing a little frazzled and this call confirmed that my head wasn't level. Waiting for the flop I almost begged to miss it so I could fold and walk away. But low and behold a king came up. He bet, I called, everyone else folded. The board paired on the turn, we both checked. I don't know why I checked. I'm sure now he had me on a middle pair on the flop, the turn was a perfect card to bluff on, I can only explain it as being a side effect of the coolebad beat. The river was an Ace, giving me two pair with an Ace kicker. He bet and I called to see his AK. I said AK was good and staked my chips and left.
Where I was once up over $200 the cashier gave me $133 for my chips. I didn't feel to bad, it could have been worse. I played my hands well and just got unlucky. I went to find my friends and we had a drink, I told them how the session went and we all decided to play blackjack. We sat at a $10 minimum table, and were quickly joined by two other men. I bought in for only $60, expecting it to go quick. The two strangers bought $200 each. A few hours later after a lot of help from a friendly dealer and great other players, I was up over $200, my friend over $100, and one of the strangers over $1000. With my poker winnings restored I threw the dealer a $5 chip and thanked him for all the help.
I cashed out a winner on a night where I expected to be a loser. I played way out of my limits in a casino poker room and almost walked away with a massive payout. Looking back at it now I would almost say that the 1/2 tables at Mohegan are softer than the .5/.10 on poker stars. I don't know if this is always true or if I just had the luckiest table selection ever. Needless to say, I'll be back, with my blackjack winnings to play with, just waiting for the nuts and hoping it holds up. If it doesn't, oh well, at least I can say I did it, and there's always blackjack.

Playing an Online IDN Slot Machine

If you are looking for a slot machine that offers big payouts and a good chance of hitting more coins in the pot than you do with other machines, look for an IDN slot machine. An IDN is an Internet Dial up Connection (DSL). You can find an IDN in most casinos. This type of slot machine allows you to play casino poker online via your computer.
Playing online casino poker with an IDN machine has several advantages. First, it means you don't have to travel to a casino to play. You can play right from your home or office.
Second, playing an IDN slot machine can be more convenient than a traditional slots game. You don't have to stand around waiting for the machine to change out coins. You also don't have to worry about where the reels are located or how long they take. The machines use a touch screen interface that makes it easy to operate.
Third, playing an IDN slot machine has more chances of hitting a jackpot than a regular slots game. When you bet on a regular slot machine, you have a 1 in three chance of hitting something worthwhile. With an IDN slot machine, however, you have a thirty-three percent chance of hitting a jackpot. This means you will make more money from the machines if you play them more often.
Playing an IDN slot machine also allows you to practice at home. The online slot machine software allows you to test your skills on the software that controls the machine. You can also play against some of the top professional slot players in the world. You get the chance to play against them in a virtual casino setting.
Playing an IDN slot machine is fun and exciting. If you want to win money playing slot machines, then you need to practice on the internet. Online casinos offer many types of slot machines that you can play on and improve your skills with.
The advantage of playing an online IDN slot machine is that you do not have to travel to a land based casino. You can play from the comfort of your own home. You can practice your skills and sharpen your abilities all from the comfort of your own home.
Playing online slot machines is a great way to win money. There are no huge crowds and no costs to using an online slot machine. There are also no chances of getting a slot machine "short-circuited." With a real live casino, there is always the risk of someone stopping the game just before it is completed or winning a lot of money. With an online casino, there is no such thing. You can play as long as you want.
Playing an IDN slot machine is the most convenient way to play a slot machine. It is the easiest way. No matter where you are, you can play a slot machine and win big. You will be able to enjoy the thrill and excitement of wining and winning a jackpot at any time of day, any day of the year.

I play poker and do pretty well and thought about counting cards in blackjack and was wondering how hard it is and about how much the profit is? I live in SoCal so I don’t have too many options for casinos.

I want to share a lesson I learned 13 years ago...

A buddy of mine told me one of those "What do you think I did wrong?" stories a few minutes ago, and he did something I see too often, and I don't understand. In fact, when I say I "learned" this lesson, really it was more a reminder of something I would have thought was obvious.
So it's 2007 and I've only been playing casino poker for a little over a year. I'm playing a $1/2 game when I see this kid with a nosering, about as young as I was buy in for the table max of $500 and start betting aggressively just about every hand. Every hand he's in, he's the aggressor, and his bets are all 3/4 pot or more. At one point he overbet-jams an A-K-8 flop into two opponents, gets called, and beats his opponent's AJ with his K4 when a four hits on the river. So he's an idiot, but a rich idiot at this point, with a little over $1100 in front of him.
Now, I, myself, was at the tail end of the night and had been about ready to pack it in before this maniac arrived. I'd bought in for $400, turned that into $1800 over the course of 7 hours, and then turned that back down into $1400 in the last two. I was tired and ready to leave but Nosering sits down and he's got $1100 he's going to try to give away. I want it, so I stick around. I figure I'll wait for a strong hand and let him do the betting for me. He seems to see someone check/calling as some sort of insult that can only be met with substantial bets. If I have so much as top pair, he'll give me his whole stack voluntarily.
Nosering's style does not change. He bets and bets. He doesn't bet with nothing, but it seems he'll go just as far with middle pair as with top set, and doesn't care about how many are in the pot. He's already dropped to about $950 when I find J-J on the button. Under the gun, he raises to $25 and gets two callers before it comes to me.
Now, I played this hand bad. BAD. Not just bad by today's standards, but bad by 2007 standards as well. Just want to make it clear -- I misplayed every street, and I know that.
But yeah, I've seen him fold in situations where he can either fold or call, but if it's his action, he wants to raise. So I figure I'll raise something that will entice a reraise. I make it $125, pretty much asking for action. This was a bad play for lots of reasons, but what happened is a big one -- the big blind called, Nosering flat calls, and another player calls. Now I'm in a $500 pot, four-way with pocket jacks. I pretty much have to fold guaranteed if I see an A, K or Q. This sucks.
Flop comes 9-8-2 with two diamonds, which is about as good as I could expect. Big blind checks, Nosering bets $375. Pretty much what you'd expect. The other player calls his last $150, and I'm in a perfect spot to jam. I don't want to see a card above a jack come on the turn. Or a diamond, for that matter. I'm pretty sure I have the best hand (the whole table has been loose for a while, but especially so after Nosering came around), but that could change on the turn. Nosering's pretty much pot-committed now, having put in most of his stack already, and would likely call me, either way. Plus, he'll jam any turn card. So I just flat call him.
My reasoning here could have been that Nosering was putting all his money in, no matter what. I might as well see what the turn is before I decide to call. That would be wrong, especially with another player still to act, but the truth is, that wasn't my reasoning. My actual reason was much worse. I figured it was possible that he was in there with something stupid like 9-2, because he's played silly thus far. Or, he could actually have a set. Mostly, I was thinking like this -- if I call the $375 and lose, I'm down to $900. Still a profitable session. If I go all-in and lose, I'm down to $300 and now I'm in the red after 9 hours. That's a terrible way to think, but that's how I thought, so I called. Big blind folds so now we're three handed (with one all in), so action's heads up on the turn.
The turn comes an 8 of clubs, Nosering shoves his remaining $450, and I sit there and tank. The turn is about what I would hope for. Everything has happened exactly as I had predicted -- he bet aggressively every street, willingly offering his entire stack, and I'm holding better than top pair now, with an overpair to the board. More, I'm getting insanely good odds to call here -- $450 to win $1900. But what if he was sitting on A-8? Or 8-2? Or pocket nines? I just... can't do it. I fold.
When the river comes the Jack of hearts, I curse out loud. It doesn't matter, of course, but it twists the knife.
I'll never know what Nosering had. That's because the all-in player showed K-9 for two pair, 9's and 8's with a king kicker, and Nosering mucked his hand. I took my middling profits for the night -- I made $500, it felt like nothing -- and left. On that drive home, I cursed myself for continuing to play. I backed out because I was afraid of turning a "winning" session into a "losing" session, and if I'm going to think like that, I can't play well. I misplayed every street, I thought. If I look at Jacks and think "oh boy, I hope my whole stack goes in," then I'm an idiot. But more importantly, if I think that, then I shouldn't maneuver myself into massive a 4-way pot against who knows what?
But the biggest thing? The biggest, most obvious "lesson" that I learned? I made a prediction based on what I had seen. Then my prediction came true. Then I failed to act on that prediction.
When I called the $375, I knew -- I fucking knew -- that he was going to bet all-in on the turn. That means I wasn't making a decision for $375. I was making a decision for $825. I knew that if I called, he would put me all-in, so I better know what I'm going to do when he does. His bet represented no new information to me.
And that's the thing that I'm always so surprised to hear from people in stories. When I made this mistake, I was tired after a 9-hour grind, I wasn't emotionally ready to play, and I was young and stupid. Still, I instantly knew my biggest mistake, because it's obvious: If you expect your opponent to bet, and then he does, it shouldn't change your plan. "Have a plan if he raises you" is a good general rule for betting, but this is even worse than that, because it wasn't if he bets, as far as I was concerned. It was when he bets.
As far as I was concerned, his bets meant one thing, and one thing only -- that he was still breathing. His $375 bet on the flop was a big bet, but it was at a $500 pot. More importantly, I knew he would make big bets. Then he did. I set a game plan in place but I refused to follow it. Even 13 years later, it still stings. I still want that damned pot. Most people remember their worst beats, I guess I'm lucky that I'm more easily able to recall my worst plays.
My buddy's story reminded me of this, as do many of the stories you see here, sometimes. "I was against a loose-aggressive player whom I've seen three-barrel with nothing. I had top pair, top kicker, and decided to check/call and let him bet my hand for me. He bet the flop, I called, he bet the turn, I called, then he bet the river and I folded because I only had one pair. What did I do wrong?"
If you have a plan, and that plan involves your opponent betting, then don't change your plan because everything is going according to plan. Adjusting to new information is important, but if you expected the bet, and then it happened, then you have no new information. If you're going to fold the river, then save some money and fold before you get there.

Imagine you sit down at a poker table to play a game of poker with casino owner

Imagine you sit down at a poker table to play a game of poker with the casino owner. The rules were set before you sat down. You place your bets and your cards are shown. You're shown to have a winning hand and the casino owner is having a losing hand. The casino owner calls security to have you thrown out before the river card is shown. That's exactly what is happening between Robinhood and the free market right now. They know you are about to win and so they are throwing you out before you can claim your winning hand.
